I was just talking to him a few weeks ago about his return to competition after a couple of years of injuries and surgeries, and his requirements to qualify for the 2019 World 24 Hrs in France. He was looking forward to be on the team again to represent Canada on the world stage.
Beside holding the M50 Canadian Records at the 100 Mile, 6 Hrs, 12 Hrs and 24 Hrs distance, he represented Canada at the World 24 Hrs 2012, 2013 and 2015 always proud of wearing his Canada uniform. He is the type of guy that always had time to cheer you up even when he had a bad day.
An ambassador to our sport, a great athlete, awesome Race Director of the That Dam Hill race weekend, a family man and great friend, you will be missed.
Our deepest sympathies goes to family and friend in this difficult time, from the running community.
You made the TEAM, Dave, you will be with us in spirit in France in October, that one is for you.
Rest in Peace my friend !!

World Trail Team Selection 2019 Portugal
- Details
We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and have some great 2019 running plans in the works!
Just an update regarding the selection for the 2019 National Trail Team:
4 of the 6 spots will be named on January 31st. We had 1 male spot and 1 female spot claimed at the UTHC 65km auto qualifier back in September.
We will be using the Chuckanut 50km on March 16th, 2019 in Bellingham, Washington as an opportunity for a final auto qualifier.
The event is sold out, HOWEVER, if you are interested in competing and attempting to garner a spot on Team Canada for 2019 you are still able to get into the event. You need to contact myself (Ryne) and NOT THE RACE DIRECTOR. I will liaise the entry process on behalf of the event. You will still need to pay the entry fee ($95USD plus taxes) but will be given a code to bypass the waitlist and get into the event.
The criteria to gain an auto spot on the 2019 team we be: 1st Canadian Male under 3h55m and 1st Canadian Female under 4h25m. If someone who is already on the team named Jan 31st tops the Chuckanut results the spot will roll down as long as the time barrier is still achieved.
Any questions please don't hesitate to ask -
Happy trails

Are you an aspiring ultramarathoner and have visions of competing on the world stage, or even gaining points to become a national series winner? The only way you can do this is through becoming a member of the ACU, then all those ultra events you enter and place in will allow you to have those points tallied and it then becomes official.
The next World Championships that will be coming up is the World Trail in Portugal in June. Team selection is taking place as we speak and will be announced shortly.
Don’t miss your chance at that type of representation ... join the ACU (if you haven’t done so already) and don't forget to renew if expired.
There are many events in Canada that allow you to gain those points. Simply visit www.acu100k.com and look at the “National Championships” calendar to see the different events listed.
