New 48 Hour Men's Records

Congratulations to Jerry Hughes of BC, who set a new 48 Hour Open record of 368.036km with his performance at Fat Ox Endurance Runs (Arizona) in December 2022, surpassing the 48 Hour Open record of 358.163km set in 2018 by Dave Proctor and the M40 age group record of 304.051km set in 2009 by Sylvain Bernier.
Athletes Selected for NACAC Mountain and Trail Running Championships

Canada will be hosting the NACAC mountain running championships this year as part of the Beaver Flat 50 event. For the first time, the championships will also host a 50km trail running option. In partnership with Athletics Canada (AC), the teams for the 50km events were selected. Those representing Team Canada are Seth Marcaccio, Chris Balestrini, Simon Widmann and Mitchell Valic for the men's team and Shannon Penway, Catrin Jones, Ashley O'Hara and Gina Tranquada for the women's team. Congratulations to the athletes below, who have had the following records ratified:
NACAC Mountain & Trail Running Championships - 16 September 2023

The first ever NACAC Mountain & Trail Running Championships will be held in Saskatchewan this September.
NACAC has previously held Mountain Running Championships without an ultradistance component. This is the first time a long trail event has been added to the NACAC championships.
Athletics Canada, in collaboration with ACU and CMRA (Canadian Mountain Running Association), has awarded the 2023 NACAC Championships, which are being hosted in Canada this year, to Beaver Flat 50. In addition to a 10km Classic Up/Down race, there will be a 50km trail race with over 2300m of elevation.
Selection criteria and the declaration (application) form can be found on the Athletics Canada website. Deadline to apply is June 18, 2023, which is one week after World Mountain & Trail Running Championships.

Team Canada World Trail Teams Announced for Austria
- Details
ACU, in collaboration with Athletics Canada and Canadian Mountain Running Association, has selected 6 men and 6 women to represent Canada in each of the two ultradistance events (45km and 85km). The World Mountain and Trail Running Championships will be held in Innsbruck-Stubai from 6-10 June. ACU president, Bernadette Benson, will attend the event as a Team Coach.

Team Canada Results for IAU 6H Global Solidarity Run

Results have been published by the IAU. Congratulations to all who represented Canada and Canadian running in this global event. In addition to all the kilometres run, there was nearly 4000m of elevation gained, stairs run, wind chill braved, and ice traversed.
